NHL action Second Round

All NHL series are now the same. One team is up 2-0. Could it be that we see for the first time ever 4 sweeps in the quater-finals?

Sens - Sabres

Even without Tim Connolly, who got knocked out by a huge hit from Peter Schaefer in the first period, the Sabres looked really set on advancing to the conference finals. Ryan Miller proved again why he should have gone to the Olympics to represent the USA. He stopped a whopping 43 shots and none more important that the Spezza breakaway late in the third. Ruff's team looks unstoppable. As for the Sens, where has Alfredson gone? He was slow, had many give away, one that almost cost the team a goal and was just uninspired. At least the Senators can look to Mike Fisher for some leadership through action. Fisher was a coach's dream come true last night hitting everything in site and being the first guy to the puck. The Sens have a huge mountain to climb and I for one doubt that they will be up to the task.

Devils - Canes

With this win, Cam Ward and the Canes are now on a six game winning streak. How much longer will it last? As long as Eric Staal keeps putting the puck in the net when his team needs it, the Canes will keep on chugging along. Brodeur is not to blame for this loss. As a matter of fact he played spectacularly and his team mates better start playing like him if they plan on making to the big show.

Sharks - Oilers

I wasn't sure if Thornton was going to pull an Alfredson or not, but last night, the big guy did what he's paid to do: put the puck in the net. The Sharks will now have to deal with the Oilers on home ice which is no easy task, just ask the Dallas Stars. However, if the Oilers can only rely on Samsonov and Hemsky for some offensive production, they are in deep trouble. Pronger and Ryan Smyth need to pick it up and quick.

Avs - Ducks

When the puck drops tonight the Avs better be ready to shoot and create some traffic in front of the net. Crashing the net and getting Bryzgalov off his game will be absolutely necessary if the Avs are going to break his hot streak. Where's Worrell when you need him?
